Laakerin oikea asennus on ratkaisevassa roolissa laakerin käyttöiässä.
Asennuksen aikana käytetään yleensä asennuksessa pyörivän akselin laakerilohkossa olevan laakerin sisärenkaan lämmitysprosessia, joka on ns. ei lämmitetä, se on erittäin vaikea asentaa. Asennusta on vaikea suorittaa loppuun.
Kun laakerin sisähalkaisija on suurempi kuin 70 mm tai kun häiriö on suuri, laakerin reiän laajentamiseen käytetään yleensä lämmitysmenetelmää, mikä säästää työtä ja aikaa asennuksen aikana ja välttää liiallista voimaa. Seurauksena oleva laakerivaurio jne.
Tällä hetkellä lämmityslämpötilaa on säädettävä. Yleensä riittää laakerin lämmittäminen 80 asteeseen, jopa 100 asteeseen. Yli 120 astetta voi aiheuttaa laakerin karkaisua, mikä tekee renkaan kovuudesta ja tarkkuudesta vertaansa vailla.
